Talented Man City player joins Premier League rival
Liam Delap, a promising 21-year-old forward and son of former Republic of Ireland international Rory Delap, has officially transferred from Manchester City to Ipswich Town.
Delap’s move comes for an undisclosed fee, marking Ipswich Town’s fourth acquisition of the summer as they gear up for their return to the Premier League.
Delap, an England Under-21 international, has signed a five-year contract with Ipswich. In his first interview with Town TV, Delap expressed his enthusiasm: “I’m really excited. The manager here likes to play exciting football.
“It’s quick and intense, and I am looking forward to that. I want to bring goals and assists, and I’ll work as hard as I can to help the team.”
Over his time with Manchester City, Delap made six appearances and spent time on loan at Stoke, Preston, and Hull, gaining valuable first-team experience.
Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna shared his excitement about the new signing: “We are delighted to bring Liam to the club. He is a player with outstanding physical and technical attributes who has a hunger to come here and continue to learn and improve. He has gained good first-team experience from a young age and we feel he has the potential for development here.”
This move represents a significant step in Delap’s career, and Ipswich Town is optimistic about the impact he will make in their upcoming Premier League campaign.
