Saudi clubs change their mind about Kevin De Bruyne transfer
Saudi clubs are reportedly putting their pursuit of Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne on hold.
Last summer, Manchester City saw Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte depart for Saudi clubs Al-Ahli and Al Nassr respectively.
The Middle Eastern sides were again linked with a move for De Bruyne this summer, but according to The Telegraph, they’re now willing to wait until 2025 to sign him for free if he doesn’t extend his contract with City.
This tactic is also reportedly being used by these clubs to target Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
De Bruyne, 32, was offered a lucrative contract worth around €70 million per year to move to Saudi Arabia last summer, but he opted to stay with City.
Despite missing significant time due to injury this season, De Bruyne remains a vital cog in the City machine, contributing six goals and 18 assists in 25 games across all competitions.
City should prioritize keeping De Bruyne by offering him a new contract, rather than risk losing him for free next year.
