Pep Guardiola confirms commitment to Manchester City and offers summer transfer
Future at Manchester City
According to Manchester evening news, Pep Guardiola has affirmed his commitment to Manchester City, stating he intends to fulfill his current contract, which runs until the summer of 2025.
“I have a contract, I want to be here next season, yes,” Guardiola confirmed. This declaration comes as City aims for an unprecedented fourth consecutive Premier League title with a crucial match against West Ham on the final day of the season.
Focus on the Present
Guardiola emphasized that his future plans will not be influenced by the outcome of the final match or the remainder of the season.
He remains fully committed to his role and has urged his team to embrace the opportunity to make history. “We have to see how we finish, sometimes the decision depends on how we finish the season,” he explained.
“The player who has a good season, is already done. Nothing changes how the season is in the last two games. We have to wait. Now I’m not thinking for one second about next season.”
Transfer Window Uncertainty
When asked about potential moves in the upcoming transfer window, Guardiola remained non-committal, noting that decisions will depend on how the season concludes. He highlighted the importance of the remaining fixtures, including the FA Cup final, in determining the future of some players. “I don’t know next season,” he stated. “We have to see how we finish, sometimes the decision depends on how we finish the season.”
Goalkeeper Situation
Guardiola addressed the situation with goalkeepers Ederson and Stefan Ortega. Despite Ederson missing the last two games due to injury, Guardiola reiterated that Ederson is the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.
He praised Ederson’s contributions, particularly during crucial moments in last season’s Champions League campaign, and confirmed that the Brazilian will retain his starting position when fit. “Do you know why we won the Champions League last season? Ederson, in Madrid, made incredible saves at 1-0 down or 1-1, an incredible save for the header against Benzema.
He was the key player in the final to win. We cannot define this period without Eddy. Impossible,” Guardiola asserted. “It was a strange period for Eddy, four times injured. A keeper four times with incredible knocks? I have never seen that. Today we have two top keepers, before was clear for first keeper and second, the distance was so big.
Everybody knows. The team knows it and everybody knows it that Ederson is the first keeper but the distance is not [big]. When the distance is too big, the team cannot compete.”
Community Engagement
Manchester City continues to engage with fans through various platforms, including a new WhatsApp community offering exclusive updates and insights.
Guardiola’s comments reflect the club’s broader strategy to maintain strong connections with their supporter base as they pursue further success.
