Manchester City pushing to secure Euro 2024 star transfer by tuesday
Manchester City are reportedly making a concerted effort to complete the transfer of RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo by Tuesday, according to renowned journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
Di Marzio revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that negotiations are accelerating for Olmo, who has been a standout player for Spain at Euro 2024.

Olmo is seen as an ideal fit for Pep Guardiola’s style of play at City, potentially serving as a long-term successor to Bernardo Silva. Silva’s future at the Etihad Stadium remains uncertain, with the Daily Star linking him to Bayern Munich earlier this summer. Guardiola may want to secure Olmo’s transfer before allowing Silva to leave.
Transfer Details and Release Clause
Fabrizio Romano, in his Daily Briefing column, provided insights into Olmo’s release clause situation. Initially set to expire on July 15, it was extended to July 20 due to Spain reaching the Euro 2024 final.
Romano explained: “If the Spanish national team were to reach the final of the Euros, it would then run for five more days. Now we know that Spain have reached the final of Euro 2024, where they will face England, his release clause at RB Leipzig will be valid until the 20th of July. This means the agents of the player have more time to hold more meetings to find a solution for him.”
While Chelsea have been linked with Olmo, Romano clarified that the London club is not actively pursuing him, having already secured other young talents like Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke.
City are racing against time to finalize the deal before the release clause deadline, as any delay could significantly increase Olmo’s transfer fee beyond €60 million.
Potential Impact and Expectations
Olmo’s addition could bolster City’s squad, providing a versatile and creative option in midfield and attack. His performances at Euro 2024 have showcased his potential to thrive in Guardiola’s system.
