Manchester City declines interest in Spain’s attacking midfielder
Despite recent speculation, Manchester City is not currently seeking to sign RB Leipzig and Spain’s attacking midfielder Dani Olmo, sources report.
Recent performances by Olmo in the European Championships, where he scored three goals and provided two assists, have drawn significant attention from top clubs. This interest was amplified by a £50 million release clause in his contract, which expires on July 20, following Spain’s qualification for the Euro 2024 final.
Contrary to reports from Spanish media suggesting an intensified effort by City to secure Olmo, Alex Crook of talkSPORT has clarified that the Premier League champions are not pursuing the 26-year-old midfielder.
Manchester City continues to explore options to strengthen their midfield ahead of the 2024/25 season. Among their targets is Newcastle United’s Brazilian international, Bruno Guimaraes.
Although City missed the opportunity to activate his release clause, initially set at £100 million, there is still optimism within the club for a possible deal. City has allocated around £85 million for the transfer, should Guimaraes be interested.
As the transfer window progresses, Manchester City remains active in the market, with the club’s decision-makers evaluating various potential signings to enhance their squad for the upcoming season.
