Manchester City could try to ensure Girona Super Star is contracted to them as early as this January
Manchester City is considering a move for Girona’s Sávio Moreira de Oliveira, known as Savinho, in the upcoming January transfer window, according to reports from the Spanish newspaper Football España.
The Premier League champions are eager to strengthen their attacking force, especially after securing the services of Jeremy Doku from Stade Rennais F.C. last summer.
Sávio, born on April 10, 2004, is a Brazilian forward currently playing for Spanish La Liga club Girona, on loan from French Ligue 2 club Troyes.
Notably, Troyes is part of the City Football Group, a conglomerate of approximately nine teams connected under the ownership of Manchester City’s Sheikh Mansour.
This affiliation between Troyes and Manchester City could prove advantageous for the English club in the race to acquire Savio’s services.
City News Wall has gathered insights suggesting that Manchester City aims to sign Savio in January, allowing him to remain on loan at Girona until the summer before officially joining City from Girona.
Girona, currently holding the second spot in La Liga’s table with 48 points, recently secured a notable victory against Atletico Madrid.
Goals from Valery, Savio, Daley Blind, and Ivan Martin propelled the Catalans to victory, keeping them in close pursuit of Real Madrid and dampening Atletico Madrid’s title ambitions. With this strong performance, Girona’s position enhances Savio’s appeal, making him a sought-after prospect in the transfer market.
The proposed deal, if realized, would showcase Manchester City’s strategic approach to squad reinforcement, utilizing their network within the City Football Group to secure emerging talents like Savio.
