Man City open talks to sell another young star
Manchester City have reportedly given the green light for Callum Doyle to leave the club this summer. Sources reveal that Norwich City are in talks to sign the England Under-21 international, who had a successful loan spell at Leicester City last season, helping the Foxes secure the Championship title.
Doyle, 20, is a versatile defender, primarily a center-back, who can also play at left-back. He signed for City’s first team in 2021 after excelling in the academy and is under contract until 2027.
Despite his potential, Doyle has yet to make an appearance for Pep Guardiola’s side, spending the last three seasons on loan at various clubs.
The Premier League champions have valued Doyle at £15 million, and there is interest from other Championship clubs as well. His departure follows the sale of Rory Delap to Ipswich Town in a £20 million deal, including add-ons.
Doyle’s loan spells have provided him with substantial first-team experience, making 44 appearances for Sunderland and helping Coventry City reach the play-off final in the 2022-23 season. Last season, he played 23 times as Leicester won the Championship and secured promotion to the Premier League.
Norwich City, who finished in a play-off position last season but conceded more goals than any other team in the top six, are focusing on strengthening their defense. Adding Doyle to their squad could significantly bolster their promotion push.
