Major update on Ederson’s future at Manchester City

Manchester City fans can breathe a sigh of relief as recent updates suggest that Ederson is likely to remain the club’s first-choice goalkeeper for the upcoming season.

Speculations about the Brazilian goalkeeper’s potential departure had intensified since the end of last season, with rumors suggesting a possible move to the Saudi Arabian league, particularly to Al Nassr.

Despite Manchester City’s openness to consider substantial offers for the 30-year-old shot-stopper, the initial bid from Al Nassr fell significantly short of City’s valuation.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Manchester City rejected a €30 million offer from Al Nassr, countering with a €60 million request. Consequently, Al Nassr has shifted their focus to Athletico Paranaense’s goalkeeper Bento, marking a pivotal turn in the transfer saga.

In preparation for a possible scenario without Ederson, Manchester City extended Stefan Ortega Moreno’s contract until the summer of 2026.

Ortega was poised to step up as the main goalkeeper if Ederson had left, with the club then seeking a suitable backup for cup competitions.

However, with negotiations with Al Nassr now off the table and Ederson back in training at the City Football Academy, it appears he will continue to guard the net at the Etihad Stadium.

This development simplifies squad planning and recruitment for the upcoming season, ensuring stability in City’s goalkeeping department.
