Josko Gvardiol in talks with Man City target for potential summer move
Manchester City’s recent signing, Josko Gvardiol, has reportedly been in contact with his former RB Leipzig teammate, Dani Olmo, regarding a potential move to the Etihad this summer.
Gvardiol, who joined City last summer for a hefty £77 million, has impressed in his debut season, making 40 appearances across all competitions.
While City chase a potential double with the Premier League and FA Cup titles still up for grabs, reports suggest Gvardiol isn’t wasting time, reaching out to Olmo about joining Pep Guardiola’s squad.
According to Bild, Gvardiol’s contact with Olmo comes amidst City’s reported interest in the Spanish midfielder.
The report clarifies that neither City nor Olmo’s representatives have been officially approached about a transfer, but Leipzig anticipates Olmo’s departure and is seeking replacements.
Last month, news emerged of City’s interest in Olmo, whose contract includes a €60 million (£51 million) release clause this summer.
The 26-year-old boasts an impressive record, having contributed 34 goals and 28 assists in 124 appearances for Dinamo Zagreb before joining Leipzig in 2020.
He has continued his attacking prowess at Leipzig, scoring 29 goals and providing 34 assists in 148 games.
Gvardiol’s reported conversation with Olmo could be a significant boost for City’s pursuit of the midfielder. Their former teammate connection might influence Olmo’s decision if City makes a concrete offer come summer.
