Jamie Carraghe hailed De Bruyne calling him ‘the best ever’
Jamie Carragher surprised many with his claim about Kevin De Bruyne during Manchester City’s win over Tottenham Hotspur.
While City secured a crucial victory that put them on top of the Premier League table, their performance wasn’t entirely convincing.
There were sloppy moments throughout the game, and the atmosphere was strange as some Tottenham fans were even rooting for City to stop their rivals Arsenal.
Despite a lackluster performance overall, City managed to capitalize on a moment of brilliance from their star players.
The now-famous connection between Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland proved decisive once again, with Haaland scoring from a penalty after a goal assisted by Kevin De Bruyne.
This brings De Bruyne’s assist tally for the season to 18, and it prompted a big statement from Jamie Carragher during Sky Sports commentary.
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher declared De Bruyne the best passer the Premier League has ever seen.
“This (opening goal) is about Man City and that front three. You mentioned David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne, making that run in between full-back and centre-back and he always puts it on a plate. For Aguero and Gundogan in the past. This time it’s Haaland,” he said.
“He’s (Postecoglou) angry. Well you’re up against the best passer of the ball the Premier League has ever seen. That’s why he gets so many assists.”
While City’s overall display was underwhelming, the result was all that mattered. De Bruyne, despite not being at his peak, delivered a clutch performance as he’s known to do.
And while his passing accuracy might not be the highest, it’s his willingness to take risks that often leads to rewards. With his contributions this season, De Bruyne has undoubtedly been a sensational player for Manchester City.
