Huge updates on Dani Olmo transfer
Manchester City is on the verge of securing a deal for RB Leipzig’s attacking midfielder Dani Olmo, according to sources who spoke to Football Insider.
The Premier League champions are in advanced negotiations to activate Olmo’s £60 million release clause, which expires today.
Olmo, who has been a standout performer at the 2024 European Championship, is keen to move to the Premier League after being persuaded by City manager Pep Guardiola.
Despite interest from multiple European clubs, City is intensifying their pursuit of the 26-year-old, who has been on their radar for the past two years.
Olmo’s current contract with RB Leipzig runs until 2027, giving the German club a strong negotiating position. However, if City and Leipzig can agree on a payment structure, the transfer is expected to proceed.
The move could also be influenced by the futures of City’s current attacking players, including Jack Grealish, Bernardo Silva, and Kevin De Bruyne.
During the Euros, Olmo played a significant role in Spain’s victory, scoring three goals and providing two assists in six matches. He also had a productive season with Leipzig, tallying eight goals and five assists in the 2023-24 campaign.
